When sewing elastic materials, use a multi-step zigzag stitch (pattern 09) to ensure the seam remains flexible and flat. It is recommended to use a stretch or ballpoint needle (size 11/75) and adjust the thread tension between 3 and 6.

The presser foot is raised by moving the presser foot lever upward, which is located on the side of the machine head. For thicker materials, the lever can be lifted beyond its normal high position to provide approximately 6.5 mm of extra clearance.

Ensure the needle is in its highest position. Pass the thread through the upper guide, down the right channel, up the left channel and through the take-up lever, then insert the thread through the eye of the needle. Verify the thread is not tangled and that the feed dogs are in the raised position.

Select pattern 01 with zigzag foot A, set the thread tension between 2 and 6, and align the fabric edge with the guide lines engraved on the needle plate to maintain a constant distance from the needle.
