How to troubleshoot a telescope motor that is not functioning?

Check that the power switch is in the 'ON' position and that the batteries are correctly installed with the correct polarity and sufficient charge. Ensure the Autostar handbox cable is firmly plugged into the HBX port. Verify that the Right Ascension (R.A.) and Declination (Dec) locks are tightened, as the motor will not move the optical tube if the axes are unlocked. Check for physical obstructions and, if necessary, reset the device by turning it off and then on again.

Why is the telescope motor not functioning?

Verify that the power switch is in the 'ON' position and that the eight D-size batteries are correctly installed with proper polarity and sufficient charge. Ensure the Autostar handbox cable is firmly inserted into the HBX port on the control panel. The Right Ascension (R.A.) and Declination (Dec) locks must be tightened for the motor to drive the optical tube. Check for any physical obstructions blocking the mount. If the handbox is unresponsive, power cycle the device by turning it off and on after a few moments.

Check that the power switch is in the 'ON' position and that the eight D-cell batteries are fully charged and installed with correct polarity. Ensure the Autostar handbox cable is firmly connected to the HBX port. Tighten the Right Ascension (R.A.) and Declination (Dec) locks, as the motor will not move the optical tube if the axes are unlocked. Check for physical obstructions and try restarting the device by turning it off and on or reconnecting the handbox.
